Gyrotonic

Juliu Horvath created GYROTONIC® equipment and exercises after many years of intense study and self-exploration. This unique method offers the same benefits also acquired by practicing yoga, dance, gymnastics, swimming and tai chi, but is not derived from these exercises modalities.

GYROTONIC® methodology allows users to stretch and strengthen muscles, whilesimultaneously stimulating and strengthening connective tissues in and around the joints of the body. These exercises are synchronized with corresponding breathing patterns, thus enhancing aerobic and cardiovascular stimulation and promoting neuro-muscular rejuvenation.

GYROTONIC® exercises offer complete freedom of movement. Exercises are performed on the Professional Pulley Tower, and the system is fully adjustable and can meet the needs of many people with varying body types and levels of strength. The even and constant resistance in the handle unit and pulley tower, (through the triple reduction in the pulleys), completely eliminates the jarring that takes place at the beginning and end of exercises performed on conventional exercise equipment, when many injuries occur. The circular, spiraling and undulating movements that characterize the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® help to increase the functional capacity of the spine, contributing to a spherical and three-dimensional awareness, resulting in increased equilibrium.

Reiki

(pronounced ray-key) is a hands-on Japanese energy healing art form that taps into the energy that is in all living things. Reiki means Universal Life Force and is given to a client through a practitioner.

The origins of this can be traced back to Dr. Mikao Usui, a Buddhist monk who lived in Japan in the 1800’s. He developed this energy healing system that didn't deplete the practitioners themselves. Reiki was passed on to Dr. Chujiro Hayashi , who then passed it on to Mrs. Hawayo Takata.  It was Mrs. Takata who brought Reiki to the United States.

Reiki helps the client relax, restore depleted energy as well as to relieve headaches, stress, fatigue, anxiety or depression. It is administered by transmitting energy from the hands of the practitioner to the client.

In an in-person session, the client lays on a massage table fully clothed. The practitioner places her hands, either directly on or just above the client’s body, in different positions from the top of the client’s head to the bottom of the feet. Reiki sessions can be done in person or long distance.

In addition to individual sessions, three levels of Reiki classes are offered to those who want to learn Reiki:

First Degree.  Introduction to Reiki. Learn how to treat yourself and others. Also learn how to channel Reiki and energetically protect yourself.
Second Degree. Learn how to send Reiki long distance, how to help others in changing habits and thought patterns. Learn the power of the Reiki Symbols.  Completion of First Degree is a pre-requisite.
Master Level. Learn how to become a teacher of Reiki and pass Reiki on to others. Class will include material on how to run a Reiki workshop. Reiki Master level training is a year-long apprenticeship. The class meets once a month.  In addition, students will be expected to regularly practice giving Reiki to others every month.

Ayurvedic Medicine

Ayuh= Life + Veda=Knowledge

Ayurveda is a holistic natural medical science that originated thousands of years ago in the Indian subcontinent. According to Ayurveda, physical, mental and spiritual disease happens when we have stopped listening to our innate intelligence and are living in disharmony with natures and our basic constitution. Our bodies naturally go toward wholeness and health once we remove the condition that create illness. Ayurvedic medicine focuses on these underlying energetic systems that support health

Feng Shu

Feng Shui is an ancient art and science developed over 3,000 years ago in China. It is a complex body of knowledge that reveals how to balance the energies of any given space to assure the health and good fortune for people inhabiting it.

Feng means wind and shui means water. In Chinese culture wind and water are associated with good health, thus good feng shuicame to mean good fortune, while bad feng shui means bad luck, or misfortune.

Feng Shui is based on the Taoist vision and understanding of nature, particularly on the idea that the land is alive and filled with Chi, or energy. The ancient Chinese believed that the land's energy could either make or break the kingdom, so to speak. The theories of yin and yang, as well as the five feng shui elements, are some of the basic aspects of a feng shui analysis that come from Taoism.
